Reaching out to Seniors
If your patients are older, it doesn’t mean that your online presence isn’t worth the investment of time & money. Many older Americans are quite technologically savvy, and are online every day.
A recent Pew Research Study showed that the largest jump in Facebook usage was in people OVER the age of 65. Facebook usage among online adult users in that age group jumped from 45% to 56% in one year.
What is motivating seniors to go online? It’s not surprising that health information searches are near the top of that list! Looking for info on healthcare is the third most popular reason that seniors are on the internet. The first and second most important reasons are: communicating with friends and family, and online shopping.
Here are a few more interesting statistics from that same study.
– While most seniors now own cell phones, the number of seniors using mobile devices, like laptops, smartphones and tablets is also increasing.
– Internet usage is directly tied to income levels. Ninety percent of seniors with incomes in excess of $75/year are online.
– Seniors who are active online tend to make it a part of their routine: 71% go online every day, 82% go online at least weekly.
This survey provides great information…let’s put it to work for you.
