The Top 4 Criteria for Choosing a Doctor…can this information be found on your website?
In a recent survey by Angie’s list, a consumer-based review service, members were asked what criteria was most important when choosing a doctor. Based on member responses, these are the Top 4 following items consumers consider when choosing their health care providers.
1. Accepted insurances
The most popular question patients ask: : “Does the doctor take my insurance?” If this is the first question, make sure it is easy to find the answer. Highlight ALL of the the insurances that your office provides. Also, make sure that your employees are updated on changes to your insurance coverage so that they can easily answer patients questions on the phone or in person.
2. Convenience to home or work
Is your address information easy to find on your website? Do you have directions and a map on your website & phone system? You can increase your patient’s comfort level by including simple instructions, area landmarks, which entrance to use, and where to park. While you are thinking about maps and directions, don’t forget to review the signage on your building…are you easy to find?
3. Other patient feedback
Share testimonials of the patient experience! Social Media provides a great way to share reviews and patient feedback. Don’t forget to ask patients to refer others to your practice. Letting patients know that you are accepting new patients may open a door to new opportunities.
4. Credentials, licensing and certifications Does your website include physician profiles with information about education, licensing and accreditation? Make sure to keep this information up-to-date, when you or your team members receive additional education and can offer additional services.
