I was honored to attend an awards breakfast with one of my clients the other day. Her practice was nominated as one of our area’s “Healthcare Heroes”.
“I think this event really highlights the special people and groups that work to transform the health care system,” said Thomas Croyle, president of the Lehigh Valley Business Coalition on Healthcare. This inaugural event brought together the Lehigh Valley’s best medical professionals: CEOs, doctors, nurses, administrators, medical staff and volunteers.
How did my client, Nikki Smolczynski, who owns a small, husband & wife private physical therapy practice get nominated among this very prestigious group? It took just one impressive letter.
One patient sent in a letter about his journey to recovery made possible by Smolczynski Physical Therapy Associates.
One patient shared his story about how they made a difference in the quality of his life.
They certainly weren’t the biggest, the shiniest, the most modern, or the most technologically advanced practice there. They were being honored for their unique ability to customize treatment to each patient. They listen. They care. They work hard to help patients reach and maintain their goals to get their lives back.
This small practice competes against large hospital networks with limitless resources and referrals. It’s tough for a small private practice to compete in this environment. How do they do it? They provide a warm touch, a caring environment, and personalized treatment.
When your patients view you as a hero you are doing something right!
“It’s an honor to be nominated” was the mantra of the day. And I think all those assembled really meant it.
