When you post something on social media, the ultimate goal is to drive traffic to your website to bring you new business.
It’s a neat and efficient cycle.
- Post an interesting fact, question or insight on social media
- Provide a link to your website to learn more
- Viewers click to visit your website for expert information
- Viewers become customers at your website, where they can easily contact you to make an appointment, or purchase a product.
Don’t miss out on closing the deal.
What I often see is companies making the mistake of providing a steady diet of posting on social media with links to OTHER websites. They have viewers, but are sending them AWAY from their website. They are sending the message that to get expert advice, you must go elsewhere.
Be the expert.
It is far more valuable to write original content that positions you as the expert! You can quote information from other sites (making sure to give credit), but you should take that information and add your own insights, creating informative blog posts.
For example: You can start a blog post with “In an recent article in the New York Times…” and then add your experience, your anecdotes, your beliefs. “In our practice, we found the same results. After 5 years of performing this procedure on hundreds of patients…” Insert yourself in your blog posts, show off your skills and your experience.
Original content builds a solid reputation.
Your blog posts become an archive that establishes you as an expert. The blog posts are a permanent part of your website. They are the brick & mortar of your online real estate. With expert information published regularly, you build a solid presence with your blog posts. Your website has something that no one else can offer…your expert opinion.
Social media posts can be fleeting. Here today and gone tomorrow…but when you direct your audience to your website, they are standing at the front door of your office. All they need to do is to click to come in and become your customer.
